TIMBURA PARISH HISTORY

Timbura Anglican Parish was born in 1990.The Parish is made of 10 local churches with a total number of 2,544 parishioners. The number of males represent 391, the number of female represent 573 while Children represent 1580.
Timbura Parish is located both in Bukemba and Gitanga communes at 20 km from Rutana Town. It covers the whole commune of Gitanga and a part of Bukemba Commune. In the South, it borders Kayogoro Commune (Makamba), in the East it borders Tanzania, in the West it borders Rutovu (Bururi) and in the North there is Rutana Commune.
Timbura Parish is structured as other parishes and it possess various Departments.
Timbura Parish was consecutively led by:
  1. Rev. Gahenga Jean: 1990-1992
  2. Rev Habimana Fidèle 1992-1992 (3 months only)
  3. Rev. Hakizimana Alfred: 1992-1994
  4. Rev. Misigaro Nestor: 1994-1996
  5. Rev. Can. Nitanga Athanase: 1996- up to now.

Confirmation service in Timbura parish on September 26th, 2021
On this Sunday, September 26th, 2021, in the parish of Gifunzo, in Rutana Archdeaconry, there were confirmation ceremonies whereby 101 Christians from Timbura parish received confirmation from the Diocesan Bishop. After confirmation ceremonies, 19 new member of mothers ‘Union have officially joined others. The activity was leading by the Mothers’ Union representative.
Different gifts were presented to Bishop as a sign of joy and happiness of congregation. At last, the ceremonies were closed by the prayer of Rutana Diocesan Bishop.

Women and young girl’s workshop in Rutana, Timbura and NTaho

 

From the 10th up to 13th august, 2021, Mothers’ Union has organized one day workshop for women and young girl in each archdeaconry of Rutana Diocese. The total of attendances are  167 young girls and 232 women detailed as following: in Rutana archdeaconry 55 young girls and 91 women has attended, in Timbura archdeaconry 50 young girls and 55 women has followed the training, in Ntaho archdeaconry 62 young girls and 86 women.

The workshop has the following objective:

  • Training them on parenting approach
  • How they can shine in their local communities so that they can bring positive impact.
  • Capacity building on Sexual Violence based on gender and gender equity

The trainers were composed by the president and Coordinator of Mothers’ Union, the dean Rev. can. Alexis Musonera, Rev.can Jean NISUBIRE, Rev.can Evariste Biroruhure,Rev can Athanase Nitanga and 3 facilitator from all archdeaconry (Annociatte, Estella,Flora).

 

Church Weekly Timetable

Concerning church activities during the week, below is the time table:
  1. Tuesday (9 am to 11am): Prayer time
  2. Thursday (3 pm to 5 pm): Sharing of God’s word and Choir practices
  3. Saturday (11.am to 1.00pm): Sharing of God’s word and choir practices
  4. Sunday (7h-8h): Sunday School and from 9am to 12: 00: Main service
  5. On Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm, it is worth to note that specific biblical teachings such as baptism, pre- and post-marital teachings, confirmation teachings, are delivered.
