TIMBURA PARISH
TIMBURA PARISH HISTORY
Timbura Anglican Parish was born in 1990.The Parish is made of 10 local churches with a total number of 2,544 parishioners. The number of males represent 391, the number of female represent 573 while Children represent 1580.
Timbura Parish is located both in Bukemba and Gitanga communes at 20 km from Rutana Town. It covers the whole commune of Gitanga and a part of Bukemba Commune. In the South, it borders Kayogoro Commune (Makamba), in the East it borders Tanzania, in the West it borders Rutovu (Bururi) and in the North there is Rutana Commune.
Timbura Parish is structured as other parishes and it possess various Departments.
Timbura Parish was consecutively led by:

Church Weekly Timetable
Concerning church activities during the week, below is the time table:
Tuesday (9 am to 11am): Prayer time
Thursday (3 pm to 5 pm): Sharing of God’s word and Choir practices
Saturday (11.am to 1.00pm): Sharing of God’s word and choir practices
Sunday (7h-8h): Sunday School and from 9am to 12: 00: Main service
On Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm, it is worth to note that specific biblical teachings such as baptism, pre- and post-marital teachings, confirmation teachings, are delivered.
Confirmation service in Timbura parish on September 26th, 2021
On this Sunday, September 26th, 2021, in the parish of Gifunzo, in Rutana Archdeaconry, there were confirmation ceremonies whereby 101 Christians from Timbura parish received confirmation from the Diocesan Bishop. After confirmation ceremonies, 19 new member of mothers ‘Union have officially joined others. The activity was leading by the Mothers’ Union representative.
Different gifts were presented to Bishop as a sign of joy and happiness of congregation. At last, the ceremonies were closed by the prayer of Rutana Diocesan Bishop.
Women and young girl’s workshop in Rutana, Timbura and NTaho
From the 10th up to 13th august, 2021, Mothers’ Union has organized one day workshop for women and young girl in each archdeaconry of Rutana Diocese. The total of attendances are 167 young girls and 232 women detailed as following: in Rutana archdeaconry 55 young girls and 91 women has attended, in Timbura archdeaconry 50 young girls and 55 women has followed the training, in Ntaho archdeaconry 62 young girls and 86 women.
The workshop has the following objective:
Training them on parenting approach
How they can shine in their local communities so that they can bring positive impact.
Capacity building on Sexual Violence based on gender and gender equity
The trainers were composed by the president and Coordinator of Mothers’ Union, the dean Rev. can. Alexis Musonera, Rev.can Jean NISUBIRE, Rev.can Evariste Biroruhure,Rev can Athanase Nitanga and 3 facilitator from all archdeaconry (Annociatte, Estella,Flora).
NYKUGUMA PARISH
NYAKUGUMA PARISH HISTORY
The local church of Nyakuguma started in 1995 and Thereafter Nyakuguma Parish was born in 2009 and is located in Gitanga Parish. It has a total number of 1666 Christians among whom 212 represent males, 280 represent females and 1174 represent children. It is located at 38km from Rutana town. It border Rutana commune in the North, Makamba commune in south, Bukemba commune in East, Rutovu commune in the west. It located at 38 km from Rutana Cathedral.
This church has been led by a number of catechists as it is consecutively shown below:
1) NDABAHARIYE Simon: 1996-2007
2) Banyiyezako Athanase: 2007-2009
Then, Nyakuguma Parish has been led by the following pastors:

Confirmation service in Nyakuguma parish on August 29th , 2021
On this Sunday, August 29th , 2021, in the parish of Nyakuguma, in Timbura Archdeaconry, there were confirmation ceremonies whereby 30 Christians received confirmation from the Diocesan Bishop. After confirmation ceremonies, the President of Mothers’ Union has conducted the ceremonies for official welcome of 6 women in Mothers’ Union in Nyakuguma parish.
Different gifts were presented to the Bishop and to Mothers ‘Union representatives. At last, the ceremonies were closed by the prayer of Rutana Diocesan Bishop.
KABANGA PARISH
KABANGA PARISH HISTORY
Kabanga parish was born in 2005 and is located in Gitanga commune. It does have 1522 Christians in total among whom 235 are males, 330 females and 957 children. It is situated at 45km from Rutana Town and is made of 8 local churches. 1 priest and 13 Catechists.

On this Sunday, August 22nd , 2021, in the parish of Kabanga, in Timbura Archdeaconry, there were confirmation ceremonies whereby 71 Christians received confirmation from the Diocesan Bishop. After confirmation ceremonies, the President of Mothers’ Union has conducted the ceremonies for official welcome of 16 women in Mothers’ Union in Kabanga parish.
Different gifts were presented to the Bishop and to Mothers ‘Union representatives. At last, the ceremonies were closed by the prayer of Rutana Diocesan Bishop.
GATONGATI PARISH
GATONGATI PARISH HISTORY
Gatongati parish was born in 2015 and has 1962 Christians among whom 236 are males, 366 females and 1369 children. It covers a part of Bukemba and a part of Gitanga. It is situated at 32 km from the Rutana Town. It has 7 local churches, 1 pastor and 10 Catechists.
Since it was born, two pastors have been leading it :

On Sunday, April 22th, 2018, The Bishop of Rutana Diocese Accompanied with his wife, the Mothers’Union Coordinator, the Diocesan Secretary and the Communication Officer visited the Parish of Gatongati in Timbura Archdeaconry just to share the word of God with the Christians of that Parish. His teaching was based on John 3:13-18 when teaching on True love which must characterize the church members. The Christians were very proud to receive Bishop as their Guest of honor along with the team he went with, and filled with joy and happiness, the Christians gave a gift to the Bishop. Confirmation service in Gatongati parish on July 31st, 2021
On this Saturday, July 31st, 2021, in the parish of Gatongati, in Timbura Archdeaconry, there were confirmation ceremonies whereby 67 Christians received confirmation from the Diocesan Bishop. After confirmation ceremonies, the President of Mothers’ Union has conducted the ceremonies for official welcome of 12 women in Mothers’ Union in Gatongati parish.
After all the ceremonies, Bishop Pontien RIBAKARE took the opportunity to remind Christians to do everything possible for the development of their Diocese in general and their parish in particular under the slogan “Aho ubaye hoba heza”.
The ceremonies are closed with a presentation of the gifts to the Bishop and to Mothers ‘Union representatives.
CEWE PARISH
CEWE PARISH HISTORY
Cewe Parish was created in 2006 and it has a total of 2225 Christians: 256 males, 396 females and 1573 children. It has 7 local churches, 1 priest and 9 catechists. It is situated in Bukemba commune at 32 km from Rutana Town.
It borders to Kayogoro commune in South, Gitanga commune in West, Rutana commune in North and Tanzania in East

Confirmation service in Cewe parish on August 1st, 2021
On this Saturday, August 1st, 2021, in the parish of Gatongati, in Timbura Archdeaconry, there were confirmation ceremonies whereby 142 Christians received confirmation from the Diocesan Bishop. After confirmation ceremonies, the President of Mothers’ Union has conducted the ceremonies for official welcome of 10 women in Mothers’ Union in Gatongati parish.

MUKUYO PARISH
MUKUYO PARISH HISTORY
Mukuyo Parish is the youngest parish born in 2018. It is located in Bukemba Commune and situated at 40km from Rutana Town. It has a total number of 1200 Christians among whom 153 are males, 197 females and 859 children. It has 4 local churches, 1 Priest and 7 Catechists.
Since it was born up to now, it’s being led by:

Confirmation ceremonies in Mukuyo Parish on 11st September 2021
On Sunday of 11st September 2021 in the Mukuyo parish, Timbura archdeaconry, there were confirmation ceremonies whereby 43 Christians received confirmation from His Excellency Bishop RIBAKARE Pontien. After the confirmation services, the President of Mothers’ Union has conducted the ceremonies for official welcome of 5 women in Mothers’ Union in Mukuyo parish.
Note that the Mukuyo parish is under construction where the congregation has already finished the foundation of their new church. The bishop has taken the time of encouragement of congregations to the new constructions they begun.
